Volunteers

Disability Bowls England (DBE) is looking to recruit regional volunteers to help establish and run four DBE regional centres of excellence to cover the North, West, Midlands and Southern areas of the country.

The centres will be located in clubs where there is a track record of good practice in welcoming disabled bowlers into their clubs. The clubs will also be demonstrating a willingness to assist DBE in developing a national strategy which will allow bowlers to experience the sport at every level. This will include regular and local training opportunities, organisation of a series of local competitions leading through to national qualification and international selection.

What will the regional centre do?
Establish regular coaching sessions: organise and run taster sessions; organise and run Regional Competitions leading to DBE National Finals in Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours; organise and run an annual Team Competition with selection leading to National Finals

Why do we need volunteers?
DBE is in its first year of development and the formation of local playing opportunities is in a pilot phase. Efforts are being made to secure funding to underpin these regional activities but initially DBE is totally reliant on the goodwill of clubs, voluntary assistance and donation of services.

Can you help?
If you are interested in helping with this exciting new phase in the promotion of disability bowls throughout England DBE would like to hear from you. Anyone can volunteer, irrespective of age or experience, there are many roles to be filled and these include:
Regional Co-ordinator, Selectors, Coach, Official, Umpire, Classifier, Club Volunteer, Event Support and Administration.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a rewarding experience providing a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, travel to new places, gain confidence, develop skills and have fun.

DBE is reliant totally on volunteers to enable the organisation to provide new and exciting opportunities for disabled bowlers of all ages and abilities. We hope you can help.
