Success at Potters

Our fantastic Maggie Smith aided by hubby Colin arranged for 59 DBE & Gedling bowlers, family, friends and helpers to invade Potters November 26th to 30th.36 of the members formed 9 teams to compete at this excellent venue.  In all there were 240 bowlers in 60 teams taking part in 12 round robins leagues where each winner and 4 best highest losers went to the knockout stages.  Dbe had 6 teams in the last 16 and 3 teams in the quarter finals.  Two of our teams got through to the semi final where they were drawn against each other.

Helen Woods squad of Ray Smith, Emma and Bob Love faced Steve Angus with Jonathan Stokes, John Rogers and Dave Fisher.  The match started tentatively but Steve’s team kept up the pressure running out 8-5 winners.

DBE faced, the much fancied, Dawn Slaughters, Cambridge Park & Friends team from Twickenham.  DBE piled on the pressure from the off.  Superb leading by Jonathan Stokes was matched by John, Dave and Steve leading to the clinical destruction of their opposition, the match was over by the 7th end, DBE winning 13-2.
