Club Profile – Berkhamsted BC

Today’s 2014/2015 Love Fisher Brown award entrant to be profiled is Berkhamsted BC who entered the Love Fisher Brown award to showcase their work with disabled bowlers. This includes regular sessions with University of the Third Age which includes participants with Parkinsons Disease and annual fundraising activity for the Chiltern MS society. Berkhamsted BC are committed to inclusive activity to such an extent that they have written into their constitution the importance of offering adaptive sessions in order to ensure that anybody can play bowls at their facilities.

aug-08-1The club are also proud of Sarah Marshall who is the current UK Blind Bowls Champion and Disability Games 2015 bronze medallist. A number of members have subsequently undertaken training to learn the “clock system” used to support visually impaired bowlers and the club boasts a number of coaches who run regular sessions for bowlers of all abilities, including specifically adaptive sessions.

  1. I’m so proud of our club and it’s members. I am now seeking funding/grants to purchase a proper bowls wheelchair and arm extensions. If anyone is able to loan such equipment in the meantime or donate I would love to hear from you. Thank you for the recognition.
