DBE Ladies Pairs

On Sunday 4th July, 6 Pairs of Ladies all Disability Bowls England members arrived at Charlbury Bowls Club in Oxfordshire for the inaugural Disability Bowls England Ladies Pairs Championship.

After being welcomed by Club President Dave Cooper the green was handed over to Disability Bowls England and the matches got underway in beautiful sunshine, the players divided into 2 group each consisting of 3 teams played a round robin each team playing two matches, each game taking place over a time limit of 1 hour and 15 minutes, at the end of the group matches each group had a clear winner, with both teams winning their 2 games.

The final was contested by Georgia Tucker and Denise Rolland versus Jeanette Maisey (with her Director Richard Ball) and Khalila Hussain. The final was a close match and as the time passed the hour the score was tied at 7 all. Janette and Khalila scored a 2 on the next end and with the time called after the delivery of the jack the final end was started. Jeanette and Khalila picked up a 4 to win the final 13 to 7.

The trophy was presented by Club President Dave Cooper, Bowls England Vice President Terri Keen and Anna Malony who was representing The Friends of English Bowling, who had kindly supported the event and the cost of the Salver.

Disability Bowls England would like to thank all the members of Charlbury Bowls Club for their hospitality and support for the event, all the players and officials were made to feel extremely welcome.
