The latest 2014/2015 Love Fisher Brown award entrant to be profiled is the Bugle Blues VIBC which is a bowling club for visually impaired people formed in 1996. The club is a standalone group but is hosted by Goonbarrow BC in Cornwall. Facilities include outdoor flat green and indoor short mat which enables the club to operate all year round, whatever the weather. A number of volunteers support the operations of the club from guiding bowlers through to tea making!
Supported and recommended by the Cornwall Blind Association, the Bugle Blues currently have 17 registered members who compete internally and against other clubs. Aside from the bowling, the club has become a vital social interaction tool for tis members who can meet with others in similar circumstances, gain confidence and know that there is the opportunity to socialise and share solutions to everyday problems.
As a vital asset to the visually impaired community within Cornwall, the Bugle Blues are committed to providing bowling opportunities whilst also engaging in fund raising activity for local charities and associations.
