DBE took their travelling band of bowlers to Carlton Enderby for an afternoon match against their Indoor Bowls Club. Both fielded mixed teams and the match turned into a very challenging competition with Carlton eventually being victorious by 79 – 59 shots. The score did not reflect the closeness of this match that was played in a very competitive but friendly manner.
Well done to all and excellent catering.

On August 19 & 20 Gedling IBC hosted the Joan Blaney Trophy. 28 bowlers took part and they were split into 2 groups playing round robins. The winners of each group played the final and the runners-up played for 3rd & 4th places.
The group winners were Steve Angus (Sunderland) & Les Smith (Harlow) and Helen Wood (York) & Simon Wright (Hornsea), who contested the final. Runners-up were Percy Powell (London) & Kevin Woolmore (Wales) and Gareth Harwood (Huddersfield) & Bob Love (Tamworth), who played for 3rd & 4th places.
After some really good bowling by all players the Joan Blaney Trophy was won by Steve & Les, undefeated throughout the competition, the 3rd and 4th playoff was won by Kevin & Percy.
The players and the organisers thanked the Gedling members who once again turned out in force to help in this event. Well done to all of you for your continued support and help. Thank you.
